NO COMPLETE CONSOLES ACCEPTED
whether by delivery or shipping. These are simply too awkward for me to
handle. I am glad to repair the actual radios which can be pulled out of the
cabinets and, along with the speaker, sent to me. The corollary to this - is
I do not do grill cloth repairs on consoles - but will repair grill cloth on
table tops. If you show up at my shop with a console radio, it will be
refused and money returned if necessary. If your radio is a table model,
that is, normally sits on a table not on the floor, then you can send/bring
the radio to me.
REMOVING THE "RADIO" FROM A CONSOLE
Most radio chassis can be removed from a cabinet in a
few simple steps. They are usually held firm by 4 bolts on the underside of
the shelf they are on. Usually you must remove the knobs on the front also.
{Keep Them - Do not send} The speaker usually can be removed by loosening 4
small bolts [keep them]. I will tell you when I send payment instructions
whether or not you need to send the speaker. There is usually a way to
disconnect the speaker from the chassis - some sort of plug.
IF YOU ARE SHIPPING
I strongly suggest using a service such as the
UPS store. Over 30% of the owner packed radios
sent to us, arrive damaged. UPS/FEDEX packed radios have a damage rate of
less than 2%.
On the speaker - To avoid damage in handling and
shipment, the speaker should be placed flat -- cone side down in a correct
size box . Then that box put in an outer shipping box. All with appropriate
bubble wrap and peanuts.
