At first glance one can see the large red tubular
capacitor in the right hand corner. This is a multi section electrolytic
with 30mfd and 50mfd capacitors. Also, the large yellow tubular
capacitor (which is in the audio section) has a rated value of 16mfd. So
there are a total of three Electrolytics. They tested out as follows:
16mfd tested at .40mfd/30mfd tested at .5mf/50mfd tested
at .001mfd
Those values were the primary reason that the radio did
not play. The 16mfd capacitor was replaced with a 22mfd, and the other
two capacitors were replaced with 47mfd caps. The radio then played very
well.
The line cord was frayed, so a new line cord was
installed. A better long wire antenna was installed in the back, and
missing back plate screws were inserted to hold the back plate in place.
